Científica: description, history and indexation
Aim. Disseminate original articles selected with scientific rigor
that provide knowledge to current engineering or technology disciplines.
Vision. Become a recognized journal in the field of
Latin American Engineering and Technology.
Cientifica is a biannual publication (under a continuous publication model)
edited by the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) of Mexico,
through the Higher School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (ESIME),
it publishes both original and unpublished research articles and scientific notes
in Spanish or English on Engineering Electrical, Mechanical, Systems,
Electronics, Telecommunications and Engineering Education.
Furthermore, Cientifica is an open access journal that does not charge for publishing,
editing or reading its contents.
Cientifica began to be published in printed format in 1997 once the body
of researchers at the Higher School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
was consolidated in all its areas of knowledge.
In the period from 1997 to 2000 it had a bimonthly periodicity,
which changed in 2001 to quarterly and remained this way until 2014,
becoming a semiannual publication and obtaining its ISSN for this online version,
it has moved on to the model in 2024. continuous publication.
In 2002 it became part of
Latindex (Regional Online Information System for
Scientific Journals from Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal),
and data began to be recorded in the Index of Latin American Journals in Sciences:
Periódica;
later, in 2005, it was initially integrated
into the Redalyc
project: Red de revistas científicas de Acceso Abierto
Diamante Infraestructura global no comercial propiedad de la academia.
In 2018 it was reevaluated and ratified by the
Redalyc
Scientific Information System, later in 2021 it entered the
Latindex 2.0
catalog and the Matriz de Información para el Análisis de Revistas
(MIAR).
